Dear Dr. Glasson,
Three weeks ago your Physical Therapy department gave me the boot, and I was happily ready to resume normal life with my un-frozen and re-strengthened shoulder. With hugs all around, I thanked everyone for providing truly outstanding care. Actually, from my first appointment with you, through my laparoscopic shoulder surgery in April, to my graduation from Physical Therapy in early July, my whole experience with Glasson Sports Medicine was the best – a ten out of ten – a gold medal experience in every way. It is rare in medicine these days to find yourself seen and treated as an individual, recognized as more than your symptom or problem, met with unfeigned concern, and dealt with in an honest and straight-forward manner. You and your entire staff did just that, combining professional competence with kindness to create a true healing environment. Even among the universally high level of care and competence, some stand out. You and I spoke already of Ashley’s exceptional abilities as a Physical Therapist. There is a touch and an understanding of body mechanics that is deeper than can be taught; it is special and you KNOW when you find it that you are in good hands. More than once as she worked with my tender shoulder, it hurt so much I cried. But I deeply appreciated her skill and determination to press on through my emotional struggle. Those painful sessions proved crucial to my recovery and – along with all the individualized exercises – helped me know how to continue safely with my own “post-graduate” work. Before closing, I would like to mention one of the PTA’s, who managed to stand out even among such an awesome group. It’s Max, who appears to have an extraordinary understanding of muscles and joints. When he worked with me, he seemed to know exactly how far to take each stretch (often farther than anyone but Ashley) and where to massage in order to liberate a bit more range of motion. Since this entailed taking me past my comfort range, it was equally impressive to me that he exuded a quiet confidence that instilled trust, trust that allowed me to let go of stress, fear and pain. And every time, my shoulder responded positively! In closing, let me say I know my experience reflects on you and the excellence of your skills, not only as a surgeon but as the head of this most excellent practice. So, from the bottom of my heart, Thank You! Our community is very very lucky to have you!
